About Geelong Food Relief

 

Geelong Food Relief is the heart of the emergency food system in the Greater Geelong region. They source and collect nutritious food that they share with over 55 frontline charities and two mini-marts to feed people in need.

This year the volume of food they have distributed has increased by 30%. Geelong Food Relief have delivered 1,100 tonnes of food or 2.2 million meals in 2023/24. 60% of their organisational capacity is dedicated to their free bulk distribution service and 40% to operating their two mini-marts.

For individuals to access their mini-mart service they must have a food voucher. Food vouchers are obtained via an assessment process by one of their partnering agencies including but not limited to; The Salvation Army, Uniting Grovedale, Uniting Norlane and St Vincent De Paul Society.

Geelong Food Relief is supported by a dedicated team of 185 volunteers who collectively contribute an average of 750 hours per week. The organisation heavily relies on the support of the community to sustain its vital services.
