Meet the Speakers

Dr Brendan Rynne

Brendan is Chief Economist at KPMG Australia and leads its Economics practice. He is also an Adjunct Professor at Queen Mary University of London and serves on the Advisory Board of the Melbourne Institute at the University of Melbourne. Brendan has extensive experience advising public sector agencies on econometric analysis, economy-wide modelling, cost-benefit analysis, impact assessments, efficiency improvements, and regulatory reform. He regularly evaluates existing policies and provides economic insights to guide decision-makers on potential interventions and their impacts.

 

Terry Rawnsley

Terry is Director of Planning and Infrastructure Economics at KPMG’s Infrastructure, Assets & Places group, with a focus on demographics and urban economics. An award-winning urban economist, he distills complex data into clear insights for governments, businesses, and not-for-profits. His experience spans transport business cases, housing strategies, disaster resilience, demographic analysis, and land use planning. Terry is passionate about transforming cities through economic diversification and integrated planning. A recipient of the National Planning Champion Award, he’s a sought-after media spokesperson and conference presenter known for his engaging style and ability to communicate planning issues to a broad audience.

 

Claire Richards

Claire Richards is a Partner in Enterprise Advisory at KPMG’s Geelong office, where she leads the local practice. With over 27 years of experience, she delivers internal audit, risk, governance, compliance, and assurance services to help shape business growth. Claire is a Board Director for Continence Health Australia, Ronald McDonald House Charities Victoria, and Benetas. A proud Geelong local, she led the Geelong Risk Landscape project and works closely with regional organizations to drive sustainable growth. Claire brings strategic insight, governance expertise, and strong stakeholder engagement to clients across the Geelong region.
