As we approach the end of 2024, I want to take a moment to reflect on the incredible journey we’ve shared this year. It has been a year of building, investing, innovation, and bold steps forward, and I’m deeply proud of the role the Geelong Chamber of Commerce has played in supporting our vibrant business community.
This year has presented its challenges. With global uncertainty the backdrop to a shifting economic landscape, and the ongoing inflationary pressures, we have witnessed a collective strength in our businesses community —adapting, evolving, and embracing opportunities even in the face of adversity. Your ability to rise to the occasion has been nothing short of inspiring, seizing opportunities as they present, and we at the Chamber are committed to ensuring your business is supported and your needs are met.
Throughout 2024, we have been steadfast in advocating for the issues that matter most to you. From our work pushing for more Government investment into Geelong, to our ongoing development of innovative member programs and services that will enhance your membership value, we have worked tirelessly to ensure that Geelong’s business community remains competitive and forward-thinking.
Initiatives like our strategic partnership with the City of Greater Geelong to co-deliver the Geelong Small Business Festival, and one of our annual highlights, the Westpac Economic Breakfast, have provided you with valuable opportunities to connect, learn, and grow. These events were more than just gatherings—they were platforms to ignite collaboration, connection, and to inform.
At the Chamber, we are not just responding to today’s challenges; we are actively shaping the future. Our commitment to championing the vision for Geelong remains unwavering and we continue to drive Geelong as one of the world’s best places to do business. Together, we are building a region known for its deep-rooted business and industry history, emerging clean economy, growing economic diversity, and ingrained entrepreneurial spirit. We are proud to be advocating for investment in key sectors, such as the tech and clean energy industries, which promise to propel our community into a future of sustainable growth and we will continue to engage in further investment attraction activities which this year have generated new interest in our local economy.
Looking ahead to 2025, we are more determined than ever to elevate your experience as members. We will continue to provide more professional development opportunities, helping you and your teams adapt to the ever-changing business landscape. We will expand our member offerings, ensuring you have access to the latest insights, tools, and networks.
